Not by a mile. But for simple tasks such as web browsing, email, documents, and the like it does perfectly fine. I personally got one to replace my elderly grandparents computer for cheep. But after messing around with it for a while I could see how it could be useful for home automation via docker, scientific studies, robotics, you name it.

This is something that few SBC can do from competitors. The only real downside I have come across with this SBC is the windows drivers are a bit annoying to install. Or better yet make it so the drivers are either in the windows driver repository, or make them discoverable at the very least when trying to update drivers in Windows device manager But I digress.

One person found this helpful. I came across this and bought one along with the IPS display and digitizer. It arrived quickly, I got it setup and booted. It comes with Home edition installed but not activated with a user profile already setup, Windows version I got it booted to the USB and was able to install Windows with no issues. I used SnappyDriver to install missing drivers only, if you ever use this, only select missing drivers, too many times when doing newer drivers also it breaks things.

Also, previous to receiving, I’d asked a question about dual monitors and got a reply no from another user. I tested this, and it does indeed run 2 monitors and switches fine between duplicate and extend. Back to the touchscreen, I was unable to get it to function, even after searching and following recommended procedure so I returned it and will look at other options.

One thing I like about the RPi touchscreen is it only has one ribbon cable for display and touch, shame LattePanda didn’t do something similar. I like it though so far, and once done with this project will be looking at an Alpha model.

My main use is to control my home automation system surfing the web from time to time and checking email periodically. I purchased the starter kit with the acrylic case was very easy to assemble. All you have to do is match up the numbers to the corresponding piece and before you know it you’re done, took me about 30 minutes it may take others less time since I have Tremors in the hands and that causes delays in assembling things.

The power supply the came with the starter kit finally died September 26th. I first started noticing problems with the adapter about the beginning of September when trying to launch Explorer or trying to login after the screensaver kicked in and it turned off my monitor. At first I thought it was an update that I installed on my home automation system and at the same time I installed an IP camera. Eventually I was able to get Windows to a stable state for a few days and then eventually anytime I launched Explorer or my networking.

Windows would shut down however the lattepanda would show that the ethernet cable was still active LEDs blinking the arduino chip was responding even though I didn’t have Windows access just a blank screen.

I also notice that the power adapter was increasingly getting warmer and warmer as time went on. I suspect that this was due to it not quite being able to supply the amperage the lattepanda requires. I plugged the lattepanda into my power adapter that came with my Samsung Galaxy Note smartphone and it booted right up. The power adapter that came with the starter kit has enough kick left in it to someone charge my phone but I’m not going to use it for fear it failing totally and messing up my phone.

I’m thinking about purchasing another lattepanda for another project. This board can capably run a full windows 10 implementation that feels pretty responsive. Getting windows validated can be quite a hassle and can add significantly to final costs. Hint – check ebay for cheap win10 licenses. But my biggest disappointment was the on-board arduino, which disappeared after one use.

The support ecosystem for lattepanda is not like arduino, pi, or esp There is no real community yet to help ou if you need help. They have a few guys on their forum who try to help, otherwise not much is yet written about this new board. Permalink master. Branches Tags. Could not load branches. Could not load tags. Step Finally, Clonezilla will ask you twice if you would like to start the process. If you are sure the destination drive is empty, choose yes to start the process. Step The system will reboot after successful installation. Notice to remove the USB storage following the installation guide. Recommended to config the display first before using.

Courtesy of a site called Linuxium, there are now more Linux operating systems available for the LattePanda and other devices which carry the small-but-powerful Atom or Apollo Intel processors. The ISO disc image files that you can burn onto a live USB using Rufus are called “respun” ISO’s, as they are modified to be able to boot up and install properly on these smaller processors.

This information will help you learn which operating system ISO file to download and install or make yourself with the respin process, where all code is available from the site directly the operating system successfully the first time around. This guide will teach you how to use these newly-available operating systems to install Ubuntu Step 1 : Use any computer that has a working browser to navigate to Linuxium’s website and download the Ubuntu Step 2 : Now navigate to the Rufus website to download Rufus, which is the program we will use to reformat the clean USB stick.

Also, please accept any other downloads that the Rufus program determines are necessary to incorporate in order to allow the reformatting process to operate correctly.

Once the reformatting process has completed, proceed to the next step. Note : At this point, if you boot up the Ubuntu If this is the case, do not panic, and wait to see if anything finally comes up. If you would like to use both displays together, it is advised to plug in both displays, follow the steps outlined in the Using MIPI-DSI Display section, and when finished click on the ” Display Settings ” option to set up the screens’ displays to suit your preferences.

Step 1 : If you are using a MIPI-DSI display and touch screen, test whether the touch screen seems to respond to your finger or stylus the best way to test this is by swiping your finger slowly to see if it will simulate a mouse making a wide rectangular selection on the desktop.

If the touch screen does not seem to respond, do not worry, as it might be easily fixed by trying a couple of things. Note : If the touch screen does not work using the pre-installed Windows 10 OS that came with the LattePanda SBC, then please check the LattePanda community forums to check for how to fix this problem or contact customer service.

Step 4 : Now restart the computer and boot it up with the Ubuntu OS that you installed. Step 5 : If the problem persists, please restart the computer and repeatedly hit the “Esc” button on the computer to enter the computer’s BIOS settings.

Step 6 : Now navigate to the ” Chipset ” tab with the arrow buttons on your keyboard, then navigate to ” North Bridge ” and then hit the “Enter” button on your keyboard.

Step 8 : Now hit the “Enter” button on your keyboard at the ” Force Lid Status ” button so that you can change the status of this setting from ” On ” to ” Off. At this point, you will probably want to edit the GRUB files before the system boots, or else you might just be greeted by a blank screen.

Hit the “E” key on your keyboard and then proceed onto the next step. Here, you will need to find and navigate your cursor to the words ” quiet splash ” in this file. Step 4 : Now, please type in the word ” nomodeset ” no spaces in front of the words ” quiet splash. However, this setup is temporary, and you may be greeted by a blank screen again when you boot up the computer normally next time.

To allow the ” nomodeset ” change to be applied for future iterations of booting up the Ubuntu OS, enter into the Ubuntu OS’s terminal and enter the following command:. Step 6 : Now, you should be able to open up the text editor and find the words ” quiet splash ” just as you had done in the previous steps.

Once more, add the word ” nomodeset ” in front of these words, and then hit the ” Save ” button in the top right of the window and exit the window. Step 7 : Now, please go back to the terminal and update the grub files with this newly-saved change by entering in the follow change:. Now, you are done, and all subsequent times of booting up Ubuntu should result in having the primary display through your HDMI display!

There may be times where you will need to remotely access the kernel of your Ubuntu OS on your LattePanda, especially if you run into any problems where you cannot seem to do anything on your LattePanda computer that has already been booted up using the Ubuntu OS. This guide will teach you how to first set up an Open SSH connection on your Ubuntu OS, and then set up such a connection and have access to your Ubuntu OS’s kernel on a Windows computer running this program.

Step 1 : Open up a terminal in your Ubuntu OS using a mouse and keyboard and type in the command:. Note : After it completes installing on your computer, you can run the commands:. If it appears to not be working or connecting, then please run the commands:. Step 3 : Now, to find your ” Remote Hostname ” IP address that we will use later in this guide, run the command:. Step 4 : Please use another computer that runs Windows OS to download and install the portable version of MobaXterm in order to remotely access your Ubuntu OS’s kernel.

Step 5 : Once you have downloaded and installed this program, go ahead and run it and click the ” Session ” button at the top left.

Then, click ” OK. Step 8 : Finally, enter the password for your Ubuntu operating system’s account that you are trying to log in to. Please note that it will not appear as you are typing it, similar to if you were to type in your password in the terminal of the Ubuntu OS.

Step 9 : Success! You are done connecting, and will be greeted by a message that will ask you if you would like to store the password safely in the software’s database. You can choose to do this optional step and create a new master password for all of these stored passwords that the software can automatically access for each subsequent login, or you can choose to skip this step and try to use the terminal remotely on your Windows system.

This guide will go over how to set up the Bluetooth connectivity functions of your Ubuntu OS and a Bluetooth devices manager. Step 1 : In order to get your Bluetooth functions working properly, we will need to install all necessary packages onto the Ubuntu OS. To do this, run the following command in your terminal:.

Once completed, continue onto the next step to confirm that your Bleuetooth device is not blocked. If yes, then please unblock it by entering the following command:.

Step 3 : Make sure that the Bluetooth service is active and running by entering the following command into your terminal:.

If all is well, then please continue onto the next step, where we will start to install the device manager which will help you to pair a specific device with your LP SBC.

Is there a site where I can just scp or ftp or http download the windows 10 enterprise LattePanda distribution without MEGA or anything like it? Please advise. Post Mon Dec 11, am Hi, you can download the system documents for free.

No need to pay for it. Enjoy Tinkering with LattePanda! Post Mon Dec 11, pm Thanks for the response. I did register at Mega and got the space. The problem was that the download quota is 5. I just waited the 6 hours and it finished the download. Next question: It is now installing but the language seems to be Chinese. Where do I change it back to English? Then reboot the system. Hope it is helpful. Hi, Google [Bot]!
